Chairman Caretaker Committee of Zing Local Government area of Taraba State Alhaji Haruna Konko has resigned from his position.
Addressing
a press conference in Jalingo on Tuesday night, Konko said he resigned
over constant intimidation by some people in the area who he said are
threatening the peace without intervention from the state government or
security agents.
He said he was forced to flee from his house and relocate his family out of Zing following the constant harassment.
"The
youths are taking the laws into their hands, threatening everybody while
the Police cannot arrest those suspected to be behind the social
vices," he said.
He said that he had written several security reports but to no avail as his life has continued to be under constant threat.
Konko
cited example with the case of the election to fill the vacant seat of
the late Kpanti during which, according to him, the police had to whisk
him out of the venue to save him from irate youths.
He said he had resigned in the interest of his family and the good people of Zing
Local Government area.
