Taraba Tribunal: Women Advice Darius Ishaku To Accept Verdict

Women under the aegis of Women Empowerment For Advancement (WEFA) have expressed joy at the ruling of the Taraba State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal that sacked Governor Darius Ishaku.

It would be recalled that the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja on November 7, 2015 ruled that Senator Aisha Alhassan, the runners up in the April 2015 governorship election in Taraba State, be declared as the governor because Governor Darius Ishaku did not emerge from a properly conducted primary election.

In a statement signed by the WEFA national president, Hon. Olivia Agbajoh and made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday, it advised the governor to concede defeat.

It said: “We advice Arch Darius Dickson who has just lost to Senator Aisha Alhassan to concede defeat honourably just like former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and if possible also put a call across to Senator Aisha to congratulate her on her victory”.

She also hailed the decision of the tribunal and also congratulated Senator Aisha AlHassan on her victory.

The statement reads: “We are happy about the ruling of the tribunal not just because of the justice meted out by the tribunal but because of women empowerment and participation in politics.”

Taraba State University Joins ASUU Ultimatum to 21 Universities Over 2025 Agreement

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
