MINIMUM WAGE: Negotiations reach Advance stage. - Labour

The state chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Peter Gambo says negotiation has reached advance stage for the implementation of new national minimum wage.

Gambo disclosed this while speaking with our reporter in Jalingo added that the negotiation sub committee has concluded its assignment.

He said the committee has involved starter company that prepare salaries in state and was given one week to compute and come out with figure, and that the company is expected to submit its report on Monday next week.

The labour leader posited that labour stands at one hundred percent implementation of the wage while state government is insisting on ninety five percent, but assuring that they must arrive at unanimous agreement.

He disclosed that the committee has directed permanent secretary, bureau for local government and chieftaincy affairs to submit the staff strength to the committee, adding that primary school teachers and local government staff are to enjoy the minimum wage.

Gambo urged civil servants in state to have confidence and remain patient adding that the committee is working towards ensuring an authentic implementation of the new national minimum wage.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
