The desire of President Muhammadu Buhari and that of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba state to take Nigeria and the State out of the present cycle of orgy, bloodletting, needless violence and widespread insecurity can only be achieve when all hands are on deck.
This was the view of the coalition of Jukun youths in Taraba state who frowned at the ongoing ills in the state and the country especially between the Tiv and the Jukun.
Believing that resolving the present security challenges and other impasses confronting the state and the country ” cannot be left to Mr. President and governor Ishaku alone” all hands , as suggested by then ” must be on deck in order to tackle the various security challenges facing our dear state and the nation at large.”
The group who made the above suggestion durian a media chart in the state , also stressed the need for leaders and politicians who are feeding fat on the crisis that enveloped the state to as a matter of urgency source for alternative means of livelihoods in other for the much desired peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups to be restored back to the state.
Led by its state coordinator , Awudu Ishaya Gani, the group were of the view that the eluded peace which have given birth to the ongoing killings between the Tiv and Jukun, kidnapping , armed robbery and herdsmen attacks, can be a thing of the past if the much needed hands of friendship are extended to governments at all levels irrespective of political parties, religion and ethnic affiliations.
According to them More importantly, some of our leaders and politicians who in their selfish desire and desperation employ youths to cause needless crisis should desist from using such innocent youths as merchants of violence so that Nigeria can have a hope that we have a tomorrow – as our youths are our greatest asset for the future.”
The group who observed that the spate of kidnapping in the state is not restricted to one ethno group but cut across the device, said ” it is a well-known fact that kidnapping has been plaguing the country over the years” adding that “For those of us that are familiar with the insecurity in Southern Taraba and the Country at large, it is not news that kidnapping has been consistent and unchecked in this part of the State which has spread to the other parts of the state and the capital.”
Citing Late member of the State House of Assembly Hosea Ibi who was kidnapped and subsequently killed and Others who have been kidnapped and are still in the hands of their abductors for almost a year which they said includes Barr. Yabura O. Lena (Jukun), Dr. Sunday Oduniya (Yoruba), Dr. Sule Audu (Kuteb), Rev. Domic Apaji Agbu (Jukun), Dantani Bako (Jukun), Mr G.O. Iwambe (Tiv), Mr Bonaventure Ezemo (Igbo), Allaji Mayo (Hausa-Fulani), Arch. Hope Tanko (Kuteb) among others, Tarabans and Nigerians at large, as opined by the group must desist from pointing accused finger on one another and join forces with the leadership of the state and that of the country to permanently flush out hoodluns from all nooks and crannies of the country.
According to the group “Peace and real peace cannot be restored to Nigeria unless and until we all collectively eschew our differences, ethnicity and primordial agenda and settle for a broad based agenda of a harmonious co-existence as one country” adding that “A stitch in time saves nine.”
