Taraba To Pay Medical Bills Of Victims Of Post-Election Mayhem

Taraba state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Simon Dogari has promised that the state government would offset medical bills of victims of the post election violence perpetrated by miscreants on supporters of the governor Darius Ishaku who were celebrating his reelection.

Dogari at a briefing in Jalingo noted that those behind the unrest were enemies of the state whose intention was to plunge Taraba into crisis.

According to him” their intention is to create tension and anarchy in Jalingo and the entire state such that the impression would be created in and outside Taraba state that the elections was not credible.

“The state government is happy that this motive has not been achieved and we give credit to God and to all the good people of Taraba state who have ignored the call to arms and have helped to defuse tension rather than yield to the temptation of reacting violently.”

Dogari also wondered why someone who lost at the polls descended so low to give a religious colouration to the violence that greeted the declaration of Governor Ishaku as winner of the governorship election.

According to him “it is disheartening that someone who is aspiring a high position of leadership of this state will resort to religious bigotry to achieve his ambition. ”

While thanking residents of the state for ignoring these antics by maintaining decorum, he promised that the state government will ensure that all law abiding people are protected, and free from any form of molestation or intimidation.

However, Normalcy is gradually returning to Jalingo following the relaxation of the 24 hours curfew imposed on the state capital to 14 hours.

Most business concerns which have been under lock and keys have started operation while school children who have been at home since Tuesday are set to resume school on Monday.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
