Gov. Ishaku gets sworn in for second term

Taraba Governor, Darius Ishaku on Wednesday appealed to opposition parties to join hands with his administration to make the State great.

Ishaku made the appeal shortly after taking oath of office as the Governor of Taraba for the second term at a well attended colourful ceremony in Jalingo.

The Governor, who noted that the time for politicking was over, appealed to aggrieved persons to close ranks and support his administration for a better Taraba.

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to the opposition to join hands with me to bring development to the State and to collectively bequeath a Taraba of our dreams to the generations yet unborn.

“The time for politics is over, now it is time for governance and we must close ranks, unite and work together for the benefit of all the people of Taraba,” he appealed.

Ishaku who lamented the spate of insecurity in the State appealed to the people to rise above the antics of those who have continually used the forth lines of religion and tribalism to cause mayhem and disrupt the peace of the land.

He said that security challenges in the State had slowed the pace of development and called on traditional rulers to work hard to ensure peace in their domains.

Ishaku pledged that his administration in the second term would prioritize agriculture, education and security for accelerated development.

Ishaku also used the forum to highlight his achievements in the past four years, stressing that within the period his administration improved on agriculture, construction of township and rural roads, revival of moribund companies among others.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
