Gunmen kill 3, cart away rice in Taraba

Three persons have been killed in Taraba State when the vehicle they were traveling in along Donga-Wukari Road was ambushed. Daily Trust gathered that the victims were conveying paddy rice in a pickup van to Wukari when they were ambushed.

The gunmen, it was gathered, shot the three persons dead and dumped their bodies in the bush and went away with the pickup van containing the paddy rice. A source in the area, Gangum Bala, told our reporter in a telephone interview that the victims were from Donga Town and were on their way to Wukari Town to sell the rice.

He said the pickup van was later found empty in a forest without trace of the attackers and the bags of rice. The source further said following the killing of the three persons, Donga Town had become tensed.

The spokesman of the police in the state, DSP David Misal, confirmed the incident but said the police were not informed of the recovery of the pickup van

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
