Attention: Update on the Planned Lockdown of the State

The Taraba state government has approved the proposed lockdown which was to commence on the 2nd April 2020 to now take effect from the 3rd April 2020. This is to allow Tarabans to buy and stock food and other essential commodities that they need.

The change in date for the lockdown was contained in a press release from the office of the Deputy Governor, Engr. Haruna Manu on the directive of the Governor.

The release states that in the spirit of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku’s desire to ensure that the pains of the lockdown are drastically reduced for our people, he has approved that the lockdown will now take effect from Friday, April 3rd 2020 at 11:00pm.

This means that people can still use Friday to buy and stock food and other essential commodities that they need.

It says that there will be no Juma’at prayers and Sunday Church Services as previously announced and that the government is appealing to the good people of Taraba State to support its decision on the issue to enable us to have a healthy society.

It says the Government is also appealing to security agencies to adhere to this new directive and operate within the confines of the law and that all security agencies should ensure strict compliance.

Taraba State University Joins ASUU Ultimatum to 21 Universities Over 2025 Agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) chapter, has joined 20 other state-owned universities placed on a 14-day ultimatum over the alleged non-implementation of key provisions of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement. Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
