Daisy Danjuma, a former senator, has been announced as the new chairman of May & Baker Plc.
According to a notice sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), the 67-year-old trained lawyer’s appointment was effective on September 27 when Theophilus Danjuma, her husband and former minister of defence, retired.
TY Danjuma, as he is popularly referred to, retired at the company’s board meeting that held on September 27.
He joined the company’s board in 2003.
About Daisy Danjuma
Senator Daisy Ehanire Danjuma was born on the 6ft of August,1952in Benin City, Edo State. She was first appointed to the Board of Directors of our Company on 30th July,1.999 until 8th October 2003 and later on 30h May 2019. She is a law graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with over 4 decades post-call experience having been called to the Nigerian bar in 7977. She worked as a State Counsel in Lagos State Ministry of Justice (DPP), a pioneer legal counsel to the Legal Aid Council.
She was Company Secretary/Legal Adviser to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) from 1982 to 1992. She was elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (2003-2007)
She was the Chairman of South Atlantic Petroleum Limited frorn1999 – 2003. She is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School. A member of the International Bar Association (IBA). The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA).
Senator Danjuma is a Trustee of the Obafemi Awolowo Foundatign and H I D Awolowo Foundation. She is the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Lagos Public Interest Law Partnership and currently the Executive Vice Chairman of South Atlantic Petroleum Limited.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
