Abductors of Tiv community leader in Taraba demand N50m ransom

Abductors of a Tiv community leader Maianguwa Daniel has demanded N50M ransom. Mr.Daniel popularly known as Zaki Daniel was abducted by gunmen at his resident located behind Yam market in Dananacha town Gassol local government area of Taraba state, Tuesday, last week.

The gunmen who rode on three motorcycles fired several shots into the air before forcing their way into the community leader room.

An eye witness told Daily Trust that the gunmen about 8 in number took their victim on one of the motorcycle and vanished into the forest. The abductors,it was gathered had called family of Mr Daniel and demanded for N50m ransom. It was further gathered that negotiation was still on between the abductors and family of the Tiv community leader.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
