Emir of Muri wants curfew lifted in Jalingo

The Emir of Muri in Taraba state, Alhaji Abbas Tafida, has called on Governor Darius Ishaku to lift curfew imposed on Jalingo in the wake of ethnic crisis in the town in July last year.

He made the call while addressing newsmen in his palace in Jalingo, on Thursday, saying peace has already returned to the town.

According to the Emir, the Jukun Kona, the Nyandan, Mummuye and Hausa-Fulani who were the parties in the conflicts have regreted their actions and are now ready to embrace peace. He said therefore the curfew is overdue and there is the need to lift it to enable resident continue with their lawful activities.

“There is positive development coming from all the parties in the conflicts that they are ready for mutual understanding and forgiveness among themselves” the Emir said.

Kefas Bans Livestock Rearing in Residential Areas of Jalingo, Imposes ₦50,000 Fine

The Taraba State Government has banned the rearing of animals in residential areas and other parts of Jalingo, the state capital, as part of efforts to tackle environmental nuisance, safeguard public health, and maintain a cleaner and more orderly city. The government also warned that anyone found violating the directive will face an immediate fine of ₦50,000.
