2019 Elections: APGA wins Federal constituency seat in Taraba

Danjuma Shiddi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has emerged winner of the Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency seat in Taraba.

Declaring the result in Wukari, the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) Returning Officer, Prof. Chibiya Shangu said Mr Shiddi polled 39,312 votes to defeat his close rival, Prof. Yakubu Aliyara of Action Alliance (AA) who got 22,147 votes.

According to him, Naphtali Kefas of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) polled 20,574 votes while Mr Josiah Kente of the All Progressives Congress (APC) got 17, 522 votes.

Mr Shiddi, who spoke with journalists shortly after, appreciated the electorate for their support.

He also commended INEC for conducting peaceful and credible election.

“I want to thank the people of my constituency for trusting me with their mandate again even when my party is still minor in the state.

I also commend INEC for conducting a free, fair and peaceful election to enable me win my re-election bid,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that results of senate and other House of Representatives election were still being collated across the state.

Taraba State University Joins ASUU Ultimatum to 21 Universities Over 2025 Agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) chapter, has joined 20 other state-owned universities placed on a 14-day ultimatum over the alleged non-implementation of key provisions of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement. Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
