INEC Materials Arrive In Taraba Ahead Of The Polls

INEC sensitive materials have finally arrived in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital.

Channels can confidently report that they’re being distributed to various polling units in within the state.

Earlier on, anxiety appeared to have been mounting in the state over the delay in delivery of the sensitive materials to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Taraba.

As of 12:00 noon on Friday, no sensitive electoral material had been received by INEC in the state, a situation which many feared could lead to late commencement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled by INEC to start at 8 am.

The Public Relations Officer at the state INEC headquarters, Mr Fabian Yame, confirmed that the commission was still awaiting the sensitive materials.

He, however, stated that security operatives are on standby to convey the materials once they are delivered to the state.

Taraba State is noted for its difficult terrains and as a result takes a whole day to get to some remote parts of the state, some of which can only be accessed by motorcycles and on foot.

Some of the residents and party faithful have called on the electoral umpire to quickly intervene to avoid a situation in which the elections in the state are adversely affected by the delay.

Taraba State University Joins ASUU Ultimatum to 21 Universities Over 2025 Agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University (TSU) chapter, has joined 20 other state-owned universities placed on a 14-day ultimatum over the alleged non-implementation of key provisions of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement. Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
