Gov. Ishaku, Wife Vote In Takum, Complain Of Late Arrival Of Election Materials



Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state and his wife alongside three of his children cast their votes at Gatsu pooling unit in Takum local government area of Taraba state. The governor who cast his vote at about 11:25 am complain of late arrival of election materials across the pooling units of the state. Ishaku while briefing journalist shortly after voting said he received reports from several pooling units across the sixteen local government areas of the state that election materials were yet to be distributed for commencement of the presidential / national assembly election in the state. Though the governor said he was very impressed with the large turn up of voters “despite the challenges, the voters were looking happy under the hot sun on their heads” He call on the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to speedy the distribution of the election materials to areas that were yet to get the materials for the people to perform their civic duties.

Meanwhile, LEADERSHIP reliably gathered that voters in Dananacha, Gasol local government area of Taraba state were stranded after failure of Card Readers deployed to the area for accreditation. At polling unit code number 028 Anzam 2, 002 Ayem, Fela 019 and Nongo Isho 004 all of Dan-anacha the voters were still waiting for the return of the Smart Card Reader which was taken for repairs by the INEC ad-hoc staff to Sabon Gida, a near by village. Other polling units that were affected within the area by the Smart Card Reader includes 026 Teletule 3. 025 Teletule 2. 027 Anzam. 006 Dananacha. 015 Jorkya. 007 Dananacha 013 Jorkya 1. 014 Jorkya 2. 008 Dunya Kumaku. 009 Dunya Ukete. 021 Dunya Schools area. 924 Teletule 1. 030 Yam Market.

The INEC staff who took the SCR for repairs was still missing at the time of the report while voters were desperately waiting for the return if the Smart Card Reader. LEADERSHIP observed while going round the polling units of the northern, central and southern zones of the state also discovered that voters were still waiting for election materials in Wukari, Jalingo, Sadauna and Kurmi local government areas despite the promise by INEC that voting in the state will commence at the same time by 8:am today.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
