Taraba Community disassociate self from endorsing PDP

The Taraba state branch of the Mumuye Cultural Development Association had distance itself from the purported endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the state, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku.
Addressing media practitioners in Jalingo, the state capital, the president of the association, Ntari Hassan Danladi, said the association under his leadership “did not and will not endorse any candidate seeking for elective post on the platform of the PDP.
Reacting to the claimed that some members of the group had earlier thrown their weights in support of all the PDP candidates in the state ahead the coming elections, said such action was not in the interest of the association “but for their personal selfish reasons. ”
According to him “the entire Mumuye race are highly annoyed by the action of those who went as far as using the name of the ethnic group for their personal gains”
He admonished the public to disregard the position of “the faceless group” whom according to him have neither the mandate to speak on behalf of the ethnic group “as far as the association is concerned. ”
He insisted that the Mumuye socio cultural group is apolitical and would never endorse any particular political party but remains neutral while allowing her members to express their political interests as it pleases them.
According to him “Our attention has been drawn to a Press conference held by a group that purportedly speaks for the mumuye people where the said group endorsed the People’s Democratic Party PDP for the forthcoming general election in the state and country at large. ”
He said “Let me make it clear that the said group does not speak for the Mumuye people and does not have the mandate of the people to speak on their behalf. It is appalling that these set of desperate persons would stoop so low as to use the good name of the people for their selfish political gains. ”
Adding that “The Mumuye socio cultural group is apolitical and would never endorse any particular political party for obvious reasons. Rather, we support all progressives programs of the government and fight for the collective good of our people. ”
Visibly dejected, he urge the people of Taraba state, the Mumuye nation and the country at large to disregard “this very misleading information as it does not reflect in any way, the collective position of the Mumuye people.”
The group further called on the federal government to treat their illustrious son and former governor of Taraba state Jolly Nyame with mercy so that he will regain his freedom soon.

Taraba Begins ₦5,000 Deduction for Teachers’ Permanent Identity Cards

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has initiated a ₦5,000 deduction from teachers as part of arrangements for the production of Permanent Identity Cards for teachers across the state. According to UBEC, the identity cards are expected to strengthen staff records, improve security and enhance administrative efficiency in the management of teachers across Taraba State. UBEC further said the Permanent Identity Card project is also expected to assist the state government in developing an accurate and verifiable database of teachers. Such a database will provide Governor Agbu Kefas with reliable information on personnel within the basic education system and support more effective planning, monitoring and personnel management. The initiative is therefore expected to strengthen security measures, improve staff verification and provide a more efficient system for managing personnel across Taraba State’s basic education sector.
